Introduction: Our Tiny Dream Begins!

Hi everyone! I'm Suzlin, a working mom of four energetic boys: Adam, Iman, Fateh, and Yusuf. We live a busy life in Johor Bahru, and while we cherish our home, a yearning for a simpler life and a deeper connection with nature has been growing steadily.

This growing wish for a simpler life sparked our tiny house journey in 2013 when I encountered the Soine family's story on Tiny House Nation. Witnessing their newfound freedom, reduced debt, and strengthened family bonds in their tiny house sparked a sense of inspiration within us. We, too, longed for a similar path – a chance to simplify our lives, embrace nature, and spend more quality time together.

I've been imagining this for years - a small, cozy tiny house nestled in nature, with a sustainable garden where we can grow our own food. This vision embodies our desire for a more intentional and connected way of living, fostering closer family bonds and a deeper appreciation for the Earth's bounty.

We've been researching different tiny house options and are currently considering two main approaches: purchasing a prefabricated house or hiring a local contractor to build a custom one. We haven't made a final decision yet, but we're excited about the possibilities each approach offers (and budget).

Land secured! Now comes the fun part - designing and building our dream tiny house

The good news is, we already have a perfect spot in mind for our tiny home! We do have a piece of land situated 30 kilometers from our main house, accessible by motorcycle. This unique location offers a peaceful escape and allows us to be closer to my workplace too.

We envision our tiny home as a weekend getaway for our family. A place where we can escape the daily hustle and bustle, reconnect with nature and create lasting memories together. While it will be a significant downsize from our current home, we're excited about the potential for closer family bonds and a more intentional way of living.

This blog will chronicle our journey from the initial planning stages to the final build and beyond. We'll share insights and tips, challenges and triumphs, and hopefully, inspire others who might be considering a similar adventure.

We're at the very beginning of this exciting journey, and we'd love to have you join us! Stay tuned for our next post where we'll delve deeper into the different tiny house options we're considering and share our thought process as we make our final decision.

Feel free to leave comments, ask questions, and share your own tiny living experiences or inspirations. We're looking forward to connecting with you all!
